Update

It's been about 2 weeks since I have updated this blog. I have been steadily working out for about 2 weeks now and I am feeling great! I will first update on my progress then I will give some helpful tips that I go by :)

I hate going to the gym, it's boring to me and I use it as a "last resort."(Unless it's a class at the gym, I like those!) I rather do things outdoors. For the past 2 weeks I have been going to the gym for at least one to two days and on the other days I have been doing activities outdoors. I have been working on running, focusing on training for the 5k I will be running at the end of March (and eventually the half marathon I will be doing in January 2011).

Ever since I started to work out again I feel so much better, I feel very energized, and am not tired all the time like I used to be, I sleep better, I wake up easier, and I feel happier!


Here are some workout tips:
  • Set a goal to work towards, but do not make it a goal that will be too hard to attain.
  • If you have not worked out in awhile, take BABY steps to work toward your goal. It's not just going to happen overnight, and if you try to make it happen overnight you will give up!
  • Track your progress. When you can see your progress written on paper it motivates you to push a little harder the next time.
  • Do not judge your progress on weight. Remember muscle weighs more than fat, and if you are gaining muscle it's a good thing!
  • Make a healthy meal plan and stick to it! Your body needs fuel for your workouts, so if you are working out everyday make sure to eat a small meal every few hours. (I will eat yogurt, strawberries, bananas, granola bars in-between meals as snacks). When you eat small snacks in-between meals, you will not over-indulge in your big meals.
  • Have workout buddies.
  • JUST DO IT and do not give up :)

Day 1 (of my blog)

Hello all!

I have decided to share my fitness journey with the world with my fitness blog. On this blog I plan to log my daily workouts and fitness goals. I also plan to write advice to other 'ordinary' people who are just looking to stay in shape! (Note: I am no fitness expert, just blogging from my own experiences)

First of all let me tell a few facts about myself.

  • I am 25 years old.
  • I am an ordinary woman.
  • I am not overweight.
  • I LOVE mountain biking, rollerblading, and beginning to like running.

My goals:
  • To be able to run a 5k by March 27th
  • To get toned
  • Build up Strength in my knee(s) so the muscles will protect my degeneration.
  • To run the Disney 2011 Half Marathon

My Fitness Weaknesses

  • weak arms/core
  • running (I am working on this, I will conquer it!)
  • excuses (yep I do make excuses when I don't want to work out LOL)
  • Degeneration in my knee makes me slow down in some workouts (need to build muscle)
